The race is a 5K Run - 16 mile Bike - 2 mile Run duathlon. Start/Finish is near the Fitness center in beautiful Brunswick Forest. The 5K and 2 mile run legs are flat and fast through some of the many pretty areas of Brunswick Forest. The bike course is a flat and fast double loop over smooth pavement. Streets are open to local traffic only.
The race site is located 6 miles south of Wilmington, NC on highway 17. It is a beautiful planned community with all the amenities including a State of the Art Fitness Center where race day Packet Pickup and the Post Race Party/Awards ceremony will be held. There will be vendors and race sponsors there for you to check out. We'll have good snacks and free beer for post race recovery, and prize drawings for items supplies by our great sponsors in a picturesque setting beside a small lake with a covered pier.
There are indoor bathrooms and dressing rooms for athlete's use on race morning in Brunswick Forest's state of the art Fitness Center .
Event Rules: Anytime your hands are on your bike, you must have your helmet on and the chin strap buckled. No Drafting. Drafting will result in a DQ. Stay to the right at all times when not passing another cyclist or runner. Cyclists must obey all traffic laws. All roads are open during the race. General USAT rules will apply. Consult the USAT website for particulars.
Awards: Individual Awards are 3-deep awards in 5 year Age Groups. Team awards are 2-deep in Male, Female & Mixed Team categories.
Team Entries: Tearm Entries considt of 2 people, one of whom will do both run legs and one who will do the 16-mile bike leg of the race. Race Number handoff will take place at the bike rack for teams.
Packet Pickup will be at Trysports in Mayfaire in Wilmington from Noon - 1:00 pm on the Saturday before the race. Trysports is located in the Mayfaire Town Center in Wilmington.
Packet pickup is also at Brunswick Forest in the Fitness Center from 3:30 PM until 5:00 PM on Saturday.
The race benefits the Leukemia & Lymphoma Society Team in Training group.
