We are proudly featuring these local charities as beneficiaries of our races in 2019:

The Wilmington Symphony Orchestra (WSO):

The WSO's 47 year tradition of service enhances the quality of life in the Cape Fear Region starting with great music-making showcasing the considerable talents of our area's own musicians, and extending through a host of bivrant and vital educational programs for all ages. The musicians are local instrumentatlists, and gifted students and faculty, selected each year by audition.

NHRMC Hospital's Pink Ribbon Project:

The Pink Ribbon Project provides patients in southeastern North Carolina access to 3D mammography screenings, comfort to those undergoing cancer treatment and community awareness of breast cancer and the benefits of early diagnosis and screenings. The Pink Ribbon Project funds more than 1,000 screening and diagnostic breast procedures each year for eligible patients.
Lower Cape Fear Hospice is a nonprofit organizatioin dedicated to providing the highest level of care and comfort to patients with life-limiting illness; support and counseling to famalies; and education to the community.  Personally, this year Janice and I have needed support from Lower CF Hospice with end of life care for a loved one. Their caring support and help is something we'll always appreciate in our famaly's most sad time of need.
We have made donations from our events to several local charities this year but these are the main beneficiaries of our races this year.

We put on a few races each year and try to make each one a special event for the runners. My wife Janice and I are long time runners and although our fastest times are behind us, we strive to ensure that the best events we will ever put on are in front of us.

5 Star Race Productions was established in 2009 by Ed Fore & Janice McSweeney. We put on races up to 15K and strive to make each one unique and great for the runners.

Ed had strong project management and organizational skill set developed during a 25 year career in the nuclear power industry. Ed has completed (8) marathons and has placed in his age group in such races as the Savannah River Bridge Run Double-Pump ("the South's toughest bridge run") and the YMCA Wrightsville Beach Triathlon. He is now a fitness runner who enjoyes any day he can go for a run, bike ride or visit the weight room for a workout.

Janice has owned businesses in Kalispell Montana, Chapel Hill NC and Wilmington and is currently Magager of Guest services at NHRMC in her day job. She handles the business side of 5 SRP and co-race directs with Ed on race weekends. Janice is a 3-time marathoner and has won her age group in such races as the Savannah River Bridge Run 10K "the South's toughest Bridge Run", the YMCA Tri-span 10K, as well as local triathlons and road races. Today she works to stay strong and enjoys each run or ride and the feeling of accomplishment she and Ed feel after each workout. "We treasure our good health and greatly enjoy seeing athletes of all levels compete and participate in the events we produce."
